THERAPY SERVICES

  • A person looking at their face in a small mirror, with multiple adhesive notes on their face and forehead. The notes contain words like 'acne is normal,' 'imperfect,' 'I'm not my skin,' and 'real.' The person has dark hair and medium skin tone, and the background is brown.

    Racial Trauma

At Purple Couch Therapy, we define trauma using Resmaa Menakem's framework: anything that overwhelms your internal system because it's too much, too fast, and too soon for too long. Your behaviors are protective mechanisms developed in response to ongoing daily trauma.

Our clinicians are trained to understand trauma through historical, intergenerational, institutional, and interpersonal lenses, helping you process and heal from the adaptive responses your body has learned.

    Youth and Families

At Purple Couch Therapy, we see children ages 5 and up. We believe that working with youth means working with the whole family. Our youth program uses a family framework, recognizing that caregivers need support to help their child heal. We encourage hard conversations, leading to stronger family units and lasting positive change.

    Teens

Need to vent? Juggling school, activities, and friends can be tough. Sometimes, talking to a therapist is healthier than dumping everything on your friends. At Purple Couch Therapy, we offer a confidential space where you can talk freely about your challenges and get support as you navigate your teenage years.

  • A young woman with dark skin and black dreadlocks, wearing a white head wrap and white shirt, sitting on the floor with her legs crossed, holding a mug of coffee, in a light-colored room with a chair and a bed in the background.

    Anxiety

Anxiety is your body's way of trying to protect you, even if it doesn't always feel that way.

At Purple Couch Therapy, we recognize that anxiety shows up differently in everyone, culturally and individually.

We create a safe space to explore your anxiety, understand its roots, and learn effective ways to soothe and manage it.

    Liberation Practices

We have a commitment to learn about how healing applies in OUR communities. I am specifically speaking to heavily overly exploited communities, our practices include mindfulness work/acceptance work from Thich Nhat Hahn, intersectionality, Resmaa Menakem’s work, bell hooks, Na’im Akbar.

    Couples

Most of us weren't taught how to have vulnerable conversations, especially in our relationships. We were taught to keep the peace, avoid conflict, or say what we think the other person wants to hear.

Couples therapy isn't about picking sides. It's about creating a space where both people feel safe enough to be honest, open, and heard. Our role isn't to fix the relationship for you. It's to help you learn how to communicate through the hard stuff with care, clarity, and compassion.

Together we explore how you give and receive love, what you need to feel emotionally safe, how past patterns might be showing up today, and how to move toward deeper connection. Because every relationship deserves room to grow, and you don't have to figure it out alone.

We accept most major insurance plans. Contact us to verify your coverage before your first session.
